Good to Know for Adult Adventurers

Greetings, all adult adventurers!

How wonderful that you are planning a trip to the Fairytale Land Tomteland!
Children are the most important beings, and here in our fairytale land,
we focus entirely on children who are the adventurers and heroes of our magical world!

Adventure, Play & Fun

Together with the fairytale characters, you and your child will participate in
fun and exciting adventures throughout the fairytale land.
The adventures are interactive musical theater performances where
children are engaged and can help, for example, defeat the Troll King,
dance in the tree trolls’ disco, warn the dragons, and ward off the Shadow Wisps
with the help of Santa Power.

In the Play & Fun activities with fairytale characters, children have the opportunity to meet the characters in mingling and play activities.
The Adventure Program lists the time and place for all adventure and play activities.

Santa Power

We talk a lot about Santa Power here in the fairytale land. It is a superpower that we have within us and that grows stronger if we help to:

  1. Take care of nature, the climate, and animals
  2. Be kind to others and learn from each other
  3. Most importantly, practice believing in yourself and understanding that you are great just as you are.

With the help of Santa Power, one can defeat dragon hunters, troll kings, and shadow wisps.

Discover, Play, and Climb

Between all the exciting adventures, you can explore our 18-hectare fairytale world on your own.
Besides the magical, enchanted old forest surrounding Tomteland, you can
discover, play, and climb in the 6 magical houses. There are also various exciting
play and climbing activities around the fairytale land and large, unique buildings with restaurants,
cafes, and shops, etc.

Pack Your Adventure Backpack

All adventures and experiences with the fairytale characters take place outdoors in all weather conditions.
In winter, it is important to have proper winter play clothes, and in summer, rain gear and
swimwear so you can swim in our magical lake!
On the Info for Little Adventurers page, we have listed useful items to bring for you and the children
when adventuring among dragons, fairies, and trolls.

Parking

About 150 meters before the entrance, you will find the main parking lot and another one above and to the left of the main entrance.
Parking costs 40 SEK, of which 20% goes to the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation’s children’s activities.

Wagons

Available for rent at the entrance for 40 SEK/day. When you return the wagon at the entrance counter, you receive a small gift.

Dogs

Dogs are allowed in the park but must be kept on a leash at all times and are not allowed inside the buildings.

Does Tomteland have its own accommodation?

With a panoramic view over Lake Siljan, Tomteland’s own accommodation, Åsengården’s Lodging & Inn, is available. The accommodation consists of a small cabin village and rooms in Åsengården’s large cottage, as well as a cozy campsite with spaces for caravans, motorhomes, and tents.
Below are the Solleröåsen chalets dating back to the early 1700s. Lovely hiking trails are right outside the cabin door,
a pool in the summer for those who want to swim, and a cozy inn with full rights.

We also collaborate with other accommodation facilities around Lake Siljan that offer “Tomteland Packages” where lodging and entrance to Tomteland are included. Check out our “Accommodation” page.

Is Tomteland located in the middle of Mora?

Tomteland is a 15-minute drive, about 17 km, outside Mora, in the village of Gesunda just below the foot of the high Gesunda mountain..

How long does a visit in Tomteland take?

Adventures take place simultaneously in all our eight magical places – Troll Kingdom, Forest Gnome Village, Fairy Realm, Fairy Tale Square, Dragon Land, Shadow Land, The Glade, and The Enchanted Forest. We recommend at least a full-day visit (10:00-16:00) to see and experience a part of the extensive program.
Our most popular tickets are the 2-day tickets, which give you plenty of time to see and experience everything at Tomteland. If you live nearby or are staying in the region for a long time, the Season Pass or our Annual Pass is a good option. See opening hours and prices.

Changing tables & toilets

Toilets are available in several locations around the park. Changing tables are at the entrance, Tomtemor’s café, and in Santa’s workshop. Toilets are marked on the program map, and it is also possible to ask the park elves.

Own Lunch bag & Grilling?

You are welcome to bring your own picnic to Tomteland. In good weather, you can sit at one of the many outdoor benches and tables in the park. There are also lean-tos with fireplaces in the Fairy Realm and The Glade. In bad weather, you can eat your picnic in the Troll’s house, which also has a fireplace, or in our large teepee at Fairy Tale Square. Note: There is firewood at our fireplaces. You must bring your own fire starter and ALWAYS TAKE IT HOME since we are a children’s park.

Accessibility & Personal Carrier

Companions enter free upon presenting proof at the entrance.
You can drive right up to the entrance to drop off wheelchair users or those who have difficulty walking.
The park is handicap-friendly, with most paths paved and plowed and sanded in winter.
Most buildings have necessary spaces, ramps, etc.
Accessible toilets are in the entrance building, Tomtemor’s café, and two in the large Workshop.

Allergy

We have both gluten and lactose-free options. If you have questions about food allergies, please contact us at phone: 0250-28770 or email info@tomteland.se.

What happens in bad weather?

Bad weather can’t stop all the exciting adventures here at Tomteland, so make sure to dress you and your children according to the weather, and pack both swimwear and rain gear in summer and warm extra sweaters in winter. Good shoes are also necessary to have a good day in the fairytale land! If there’s a risk of lightning, we might postpone an adventure.

Can you take a swim at Tomteland?

Below the Fairy Realm lies Aurora Lake, sparkling in the sun. Here you will find a small bathing bay with a sandy bottom and shallow water for children, a small sandy beach for sunbathing, and wonderfully cool water for splashing and swimming.

Drones?

Sometimes we film in the fairytale land, and then our film drones might appear in the sky.
Outsiders are not allowed to fly drones over the fairytale land without our permission.
